FIFA Laws of the Game 2009/10

RPYSC Recreation teams U10 and above, participate within the Great Lakes Co-Ed Soccer League (GLCSL). RPYSC Select travel teams participate within the Grand Valley Soccer Association (GVSA).

Both leagues comply with the FIFA Laws of the Game. These can be downloaded here (you can also click on the image to the left).

Individual leagues can amend the FIFA rules. More details on these amendments can be found below.


Grand Valley Soccer Association (GVSA)

Great Lake Co-Ed Soccer League (GLCSL)

The GLCSL web site notes the following amendments.

U-10 Rule Changes adopted spring 2005:

With the exceptions of these modification approved and adopted by GLCSL, all rules comply with the FIFA Laws of the Game.

  • 6 V 6 with a goalie as part of the six
  • No Off-side Penalty
  • No penalty kicks
  • If a foul is committed, an indirect kick is awarded
  • If a foul is committed inside the box, an indirect kick is awarded outside the box at the nearest corner closest to the site of the penalty.
  • No direct kicks with the exception of the kickoff and corner kicks
  • Special note In U10 substitutions may be made by either team at all stoppages (except for infractions) regardless of which team is receiving possession, this shall include throw-ins, corner kicks and goal kicks.
  • 2 – 25 minute halves

Reeths-Puffer Youth Soccer Club (RPYSC)

RPYSC manages U6 and U8 teams in-house. The following rules apply to both age groups:

Coin Toss

  • Visitor calls
  • Winner chooses end to defend
  • Other team kick-off
  • Kick-offs are 1st and 2nd quarters and 3rd and 4th quarters other team

Pinneys:

  • Visitor team wears if needed

Game Ball:

  • Home team supplies game ball

U6 Specific Rules:

  • 3 v 3 with no goalies
  • 4 ten minute quarters
  • 2 minutes between quarters
  • 5 minute half time
  • Normal FIFA rules apply, no offsides
  • All kicks are indirect, except kick-off
  • No corner kicks or goal kick, throw-in at touchline
  • Substitutions only at any stoppage of play
  • Size #3 ball
  • Teams do not switch sides
  • If one team is clearly dominating, the referee may ask for the weaker team to use a 4th player. The 4th player must be rotated through the roster and the 50% playing rule must be adhered to.

U8 Specific Rules:

  • 5 v 5 with goalies
  • 4 ten minute quarters
  • 2 minutes between quarters
  • 5 minute half time
  • Normal FIFA rules apply, no offsides
  • All kicks are indirect, except kick-off and corner kick are direct
  • Substitutions only at any stoppage of play
  • Size #3 ball
  • Teams do not switch sides unless both coaches agree
